ONE PALACE creates custom hand-tufted area rugs and carpets for luxury residential and prestigious hospitality projects worldwide. This versatile technique is ideal for any space, from stair runners and presidential suites to corridors and inset lobby rugs.

Hand-tufted rugs offer limitless design possibilities, with various textures, such as high and low pile, cut, loop, and tip-shear, plus the option for 3D effects, all achieved through meticulous hand carving. The design can flow continuously without repetition, offering unique, one-of-a-kind patterns.

We use only the finest yarns—wool, silk, and bamboo—to ensure durability and easy maintenance. Each order is custom-made based on the floor plan or site measurements, minimizing waste. The combination of premium materials and exceptional craftsmanship makes ONE PALACE hand-tufted rugs a lasting investment.

The creation process starts with the mood board, followed by direct communication between the ONE PALACE design team and the client to finalize the artwork. The design is then printed onto a cloth, stretched tight on a vertical frame, while the raw materials are dyed. Using a special tufting gun, tufts of wool, silk, or bamboo are injected into the cloth to form the pattern. The tufting gun, equipped with scissors, determines the pile height. After tufting, a latex backing is added for reinforcement. Finally, the rug is sheared to the perfect height and hand-carved or penciled to enhance the design. Every rug undergoes a strict quality check by the production manager and designer to ensure it meets the high standards of ONE PALACE.

The Weaving Process – The Art of Hand-Tufted Rugs

Hand-tufted rugs are crafted using a unique and efficient weaving technique that allows for intricate patterns and plush textures without the extensive time required for hand-knotting.

The process begins with an artisan stretching a backing fabric onto an iron frame, where the desired pattern is carefully traced. Using a handheld tufting gun, the artisan then pushes yarn through the fabric, creating loops or cut piles within the outlined design.

Unlike hand-knotted rugs, tufting does not involve tying individual knots, making the process faster while still allowing for high levels of customization. Once the tufting is complete, a secondary backing is applied for durability, and the rug is sheared, carved, and finished to achieve the desired texture and design.

Faster Production: Less time-consuming than hand-knotting, making it a cost-effective option.
Luxurious Look & Feel: Offers soft, plush textures with intricate detailing.
Versatile Designs: Available in a wide range of styles, colors, and patterns.

Hand-tufted rugs combine artisanal skill with modern efficiency, making them a perfect choice for those who seek style, comfort, and durability at a more accessible price.

Why Choose a Hand-Tufted Rug?

How to Identify a Hand-Tufted Rug?

Canvas Backing: Unlike hand-knotted rugs, hand-tufted rugs have a secondary canvas backing glued on to hold the yarn in place.
Pile Type: Usually features a cut pile or a combination of cut and loop pile, giving it a plush, textured look.

Pile Height & Durability

Pile Height: Medium to high, making it soft and comfortable underfoot.
Durability: Lasts 5-7 years, depending on usage and fiber quality.
Intricacy: Offers a wide range of patterns and designs, though less intricate than hand-knotted rugs

Weaving Technique

Tufting Instead of Knots: Made by pushing loops of yarn through a backing fabric rather than knotting each thread, making the process faster and more affordable.

Pros of Hand-Tufted Rugs

More Affordable: A cost-effective alternative to hand-knotted rugs.
Wide Variety of Designs: Almost unlimited patterns, colors, and textures to suit any décor.
Soft & Plush: Provides a comfortable and cozy feel underfoot.

Cons of Hand-Tufted Rugs

Sheds Over Time: More prone to shedding.
Not Water-Resistant: The glued backing can weaken if exposed to moisture, making it less suitable for damp environments.

A hand-tufted rug is a great option for those looking for a stylish, budget-friendly, and comfortable rug, best suited for areas with lighter foot traffic
